Motril Port has handled its biggest cruise ship to date with the arrival of the Norwegian Epic, belonging to the cruise line, Norwegian Cruise Line.
This large cruise ship, which is 329 metres long, docked around six in the morning on Thursday, disgorging 3,862 passengers and 1,724 cruise.
To provide transport for these visitors, 41 buses were hired. Fifteen bus shuttles ferried most of the passengers (3,200) to the town of Motril. The other 26 buses ran organised trips to the cities of Granada and Málaga, as well as the Alpujarra, Vélez de Benaudalla and Nerja.
Norwegian Epic began its cruise schedule in New York, crossing the Atlantic, visiting the Azores and Funchal before reaching Spain and stopping over at Cádiz and Motril, and then on to Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona, where the cruise will conclude.
When the Norwegian Epic was built in 2010, it was the third largest cruise ship in the world.
