There was a fire near Granada's general hospital, but this time in an office block on the PTS campus.
As a quick explanatory aside, PTS stands for Parque Tecnológico de Salud on which stands the said hospital, Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio. It is a large complex located in Granada, where training, research and business activities are carried out within the fields of science and technology.
The fire forced the evacuation of 150 staff from one of the wings on the second floor. Nobody was hurt although the fire did cause some damage.
Even though the fire was not serious, when the explosion occurred and smoke started to fill the corridor on the said floor, it did cause quite a panic.
The fire was caused by a lithium battery exploding whilst somebody was working on it. When it exploded, it took off and made a hole in the ceiling.
The city’s fire service, after putting the fire out, set about emptying the building of smoke using their powerful ventilation apparatus.
There was a fire within the same hospital building a little over a week ago, which you can read about by following this link.
