Frozen Body Found

The Guardia Civil recovered the frozen body of a missing man near the Mulhacén Peak on the Sierra Nevada.

GRA Sierra Nevada RescueThe remains of the 32-year-old German, who had gone missing in November in that same area, was found in a gap between rocks. He had last been seen in the village of Bubión in the Alpujarra on the 3rd of November.

It was a group of mountain climbers that came across the body and who had alerted the Guardia Civil to its presence.

The GREIM (Grupo de Rescate e Intervención en Montaña) was despatched to recover the body, which was no easy task as the victim’s body was frozen to a block of ice.

It appears that the man had tried to shelter from the wind and cold in this narrow gap between rock formations after being caught out by a snow storm.
