Officers belonging to the Salobreña Policía Local rescued six puppies that were found in a plastic box behind an urbanización in the beach area.

The police had received a call from residents living in the Las Carcolas residential area to say that they had come across them. When the police arrived they noted that one of them wasn’t in very good shape as it had several ticks on it.

The officers first took them to the police station where they were later handed over to the Asociación SOS Animales, who the police always contact when they come across this kind of thing.

The Asociación SOS Animales asks for anybody who is interested to come forward by phoning them on 958 611 059.

As for person or persons who abandoned them, under Spanish law, they can be fined the equivalent of one to six months imprisonment or from one to three month’s social work. The punishment can increase to two years’ imprisonment if the animal dies as a result of being abandoned.
