Hi all!
We make the trip trip to Motril about 2 a year every since the lock down and seen the improvements to the road system and the town.
But my question is this: what has happened to the harbor upgrade and also the idea of having the rail link from Granada to Motril?
Has all been put on hold or even cancelled?

Patrick: I’m rerunning the article on them in the April Gazette.
Hmm. Shame they got rid of the cable cars. That must have been wonderful. !!
The last official mention of the Granada-Motril rail link was on the 6th of February when the Provincial Delegate for Granada asked the Central Government to back the project before the European Union for it to be included in the Trans-European Transport Network.
This was announced at a meeting with representative of the Pacto por Granada, which consists of several institutions backing Motril’s rail and sea connections. He said that if Madrid doesn’t convince the EU to include the port, then it might have to wait until 2040 or 2050.
As for the port, small changes are taking place but the process is definitely underway. First-stones have been laid, for example, buildings demolished and greater access for town’s folk and visitors has already been accomplished.
