With the municipal elections just three months away the Town Hall pulls out all the stops to garner votes with new public works.
This time it is to provide bicycle stands where cyclists can leave their bikes chained up. Until now, there were four such places in the centre of town and on the P-4. With these latest additions, there are now seven sets of parking bars in place around town.
You will find the new ones on Calle Tetuán, Calle Baracoa and Avenida Príncipe de Asturias. This last street is the one on the opposite side of Río Verde, ending on the N-340 not far from the Los Pinos Junction.
“These new bicycle parking installations join the other four, which are on the Paseo Altillo, Plaza Madrid, Calle Mariana Pineda, and Plaza del Agua,” explained the Councillor for Citizen Safety Francisco Robles.
He also said that they will soon install two in La Herradura, as well as on the Carrera de La Concepción, next to Colegio San Miguel and in front of the Medical Centre.
He concluded by explaining that the ones which will soon be installed are in the process of being purchased, and put the total budget for buying, installing and sign posting the bike stands at around 5,000 euros.
