Jorge Ballesteros, who was the World Champion of Practical shooting, (dynamic shooting/action shooting), was found seriously injured in his car with a gunshot wound.
The 39-year-old victim from Guipuzcoa (Basque Lands) who was also an officer in the Policía Nacional, had been in the ICU at Hospital de la Paz in Madrid since he was found on Tuesday. The shot is thought to have been fired from his own gun.
The Royal Spanish Federation of Olympic Shooting published the news on its Twitter account: “Jorge Ballesteros, el mejor deportista español de IPSC de la historia, fallece a los 39 años, sumiendo al mundo del tiro en un profundo dolor” (Jorge Ballesteros, the best ever Spanish sportsman belonging to the IPSC, died at 39 years of age, leaving the world of Olympic Shooting in profound dismay).
Ballesteros, who was considered one of the best Olympic marksmen, had won many titles: he was proclaimed the Open World Champion in 2017, as well as having won on different occasions three European titles, six Far-East titles and 17 Spanish Championships.
Jorge, who managed to combine his sports commitments with this job as a police officers, leaves behind a widow and two small children.

Poor Family and poor man. Whatever devils invaded his mental state. I hope he rests in peace.
As soon as the News broke I began receiving messages. It will be a sad loss to his family and the shooting world.
