Urbanizaciones Rebel!

The residents of Almuñécar’s many urbanizaciones are so sick and tired of how they are treated by the Town Hall, that they have formed an association to collectively have more weight.

The Asociación Residentes Urbanizaciones Almuñécar La Herradura (ARUAH) which is chaired by Alfredo Archilla López, invites all those living in residential areas in Almuñécar and La Herradura to join them so that the can force the Town Hall to accept responsibility and provide maintenance for all urbanizaciones.
Chairman Archilla says that their members are tired of paying top-rate taxes in exchange for practically no municipal services. Many of their streets are impassable, without cleaning service nor street lighting.

The Town Hall only appears to remember that they exist, they feel, when it comes to paying the IBI, which is another sore point because of an accumulate rise of 35%, making it the highest in the province.

And this situation continues despite the verdict by the Regional High Court that obliges the Town Hall to assume the responsibility for maintenance of urbanizaciones, which the Town Hall is ignoring, clearing putting itself in contempt of court, considers Sra. Archilla.

He then went on to say that the Town Hall is including residential areas within the new PGOU as “areas of urban improvement” with the obvious intention of levying an extra tax and thus force residents to pay for the redevelopment of their own urban infrastructure, which is both illegal and an outrage, he said.
