SPN Inter Regional Health BoardThis is the last of the restrictions imposed during the pandemic and was due to be dropped but the Ministry of Public Health decided to extend its life because of an upward trend in contagion,

Minister Carolina Darias announced this at a press call after the Inter-Regional Board meeting held this morning in Santiago de Compostela.

In the last couple of weeks, several autonomous regions had called upon the Central Government’s Ministry of Public Health to do away with this obligatory mask use. Minister Darías had but them off by saying that health experts had not issued a report on this measure. Finally the said experts did publish one, which came back with a negative finding; i.e., wait.

According to the Covid-19 figures issued by the Ministry the number of contagions amongst those over 60 had gone up 13% since Tuesday with the figure now standing at 168 cases per 100k in 14 days. However, this rise has not been reflected in hospital occupation, which is the lowest since the pandemic began.
