Illegal Settlement & Hawkers

The Spokesman for Vox en Salobreña, Manuel Martín Montero, accuses the governing party of being “permissive” with this kind of affair, as well as the illegal hawkers on the beachfront road.

He said, “a scarce few metres from the large-supermarket areas on the Avenida del Mediterráneo an open piece of land has been converted into a slum, and all with the consent of the local administration.”

“A group of ‘undocumented’ people have created a completely unhealthy space full of rubbish.” complained Councillor Martín, voicing his party’s concern over the lack of control.

He said that these people had placed a sofa in the nearby public gardens where they spend “what could be called, their leisure time.”

He concluded by asking the Mayor to put aside her “snake oil salesman” tactics, crowing over the achievcement of obtaining the Certificado de Municipio Turístico, as the town is demonstrably
turning into a town out of the “Wild West.”

Editorial comment: nobody could accuse Vox of being light in the hyperbole department but the fact is that there is seemingly little control over what goes on behind the area behind the gasoline station.
