A driver drove ten kilometres along the A-44 on the Motril-bound lane, which no doubt had a laxative effect on drivers coming head on with him.
The Guardia Civil pulled the car over at kilometre point 173 only (Barranco de Miranda) to find that the driver was an 83-year-old gent, who had gone down the wrong ramp at the Órgiva junction.
The incident, which took place during the morning of the 26th, did not cause any accidents, fortunately, but the Guardia Civil will investigate and the driver could probably be charged with dangerous driving.
In fact, the Guardia Civil points out that this kind of incident, normally involving an elderly driver, is more common that one would think.
When something like this does come before a judge, the first thing that he or she will do is to have the driver given a medical examination to see if he or she should be driving at all and annul the driving licence if not.
