The Festival Música Sur de Motril, a much awaited annual event, has a very special flamenco performance lined up for this evening.
One of the biggest names amongst guitarists in Spain, Juan Manuel Cañizares, will accompany the Flamenco dancer Ángel Muñoz from Córdoba. Together they will perform a work by Manuel de Falla, entitled: La Danza del Molinero.
Cañizares will also play some of his own compositions, amongst them: Añorando el Presente, Suite Paisajes de España (Valencia, Cádiz, Córdoba, Algeciras y Barcelona), El Abismo and Mar Caribe.
Cañizares, who is considered one of the greatest Flamenco guitarists of all times, will also perform works of great Spanish composers such as Granados and Rodrigo. Cañizares recently performed Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez accompanied by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Simon Rattle.
The performance will be held in the Teatro Calderón at 20.30h. Entrance tickets online from seven euros fifty. You can also visit the event’s own webpage for more information. If you managed to pick up a September copy of the Seaside Gazette, there is also a page dedicated to the festival with the full programme.
