Los Guájares Update: 13th

First of all, the article headline is misleading in as much that the fire is further up in Albuñuelas and El Valle, but we use the original title for continuity.

GRA Infoca Rejoicing with the RainLast night was another complicated one owing to the erratic winds, although the little rain that there has been has helped some, but far from enough.

Another thing is the low cloud base of the rain clouds, which makes flying operation much more difficult, but low-hung clouds and little water can be almost counter productive, given that air units can only operate when they can see what they are doing, which is what rules out night-time flying operation.

Such was the situation just before dusk (just before nine) that the Junta de Andalucía raised the status level to Level One, which means that there are urban areas at risk: Acebuches and Ízbor, both within the municipality of El Pinar could be affected if the fire evolves further in that direction.

As for road communication, during Monday the GR-3204 between kilometer points 10 and 24 was closed to traffic in both directions. Also the old mainroad between the coast and Granada, the N-323, between Ízbor and Vélez de Benaudalla was closed to traffic between kilometre points 165 and 178.

Today at 14.24h the Level One status was desactivated and the confinement of villagers from Acebuches and Ízbor was also lifted
