Starting today, the 1st of September, residents of Calle Puerta de Granada and surrounding streets can obtain permits to park in the Calle Puerta de Granada.
The other streets affected are Calle Aire, Calle Jesús Nazareno, Plaza de la Constitución, Calle Pósito, Calle, Parra and Calle Fuente Nueva, but this access will be for loading and unloading over no more than 15 minutes, explained the Councillor for Traffic and Citizen Safety, Francisco Robles Rivas,
The Mayor, Juan José Ruiz Joya, had asked municipal staff to draw up a report on allowing vehicle access to these streets after turning them into pedestrian-only ones.
The proposal will allow only residents living on those streets during 15 minutes on any day of the week, explained Councillor Robles, adding, “This affects those who are empadronados in the area, as well as those who have garages there, property and business owners.”
Councillor reminds citizens that the Municipal Traffic Department has set up an email address (puertadegranada@almunecar.es) where people who want one of these passes can send their request.
For the rest of us, Calle Puerta de Granada is still closed to wheeled traffic unless you’re a delivery driver, medical staff or those that have mobility vehicles because of their physical limitations through illness or age.
Editorial note: if you are not familiar with these street names, we’re talking about the Town Hall Square and access to it from the Casa de La Cultura. The other streets mentioned are the ones leading down beside the church towards municipal market.
