The Policía Local in the city of Granada have identified two young men who were filmed paint-spraying graffiti onto the Aljibe del Trillo in Albaicín, Patrimonio Mundial por La Unesco.
The CCTV, that captured the incident had been put in place precisely to stop this kind of vandalism. The said brick cistern is catalogued as World Heritage by Unesco and is located on Calle Zenete.
This Wednesday past at 17.27h footage showed the culprit pull out a black-paint, spray can and calmly begin to deface the historic structure, according to the Policía Local de Granada on their Twitter account.
Finally, after spraying at least two ‘master pieces’ he left accompanied by another person. However, although the police were not able to arrest them in the act, they were able to find them the following day on Calle Elvira (in Bajo Albaicín) when officers on foot patrol recognised them from the footage – they were even wearing the same clothes.
They were identified and informed that they had been charged and would be appearing before a magistrate.
Editorial comment: off with their pods! Make the blighter clean off every bit of graffiti around the city.
