The Never-Ending Square Work

Almuñécar, opposition Councillor, Díaz Rodríguez (CA) roundly criticised the governing party over the complete lack of progress on the Plaza de Abderramán.

ALM Abderraman Square Works AG22Councillor Díaz considers that this stalled construction work on the said square just under the Peñon de Santo (rock with a cross on it) is causing an “enormous peturbation” amongst visitors and business in that area, especially the hotels, claiming, “it has caused irreperable damage at the height of the tourist season.”

It was five months ago that the then Mayor, Trinidad Herrera, announced the work on the said square would be carried out in two stages so as not to cause problems for business, [such as Hotel Casablanca], for example, and that the whole thing would be finished by the 30th of June.

It is not only the state of the work on the plaza, says Councillor Díaz, but also the cutting down of all the trees on this once-shaded square.
