Port Open Day Success

The IX Jornada de Puertas de Abiertas was the first one after two years of just a ‘virtual’ open day because of the Covid pandemic, explained the Chairman of the Port Autorities, José García Fuentes, who said that Saturday’s events showed that people were really looking forward to it.

The Chairman also went on to thank Caja Rural for its sponsoring and the Real Club Náutico for its collaboration

Most visitors turned up in the morning to see the exhibitions put on by the Guardia Civil, Policía Nacional, Aula del Mar belonging to the Universidad de Granada, Protección Civil and Cruz Roja.

The Spanish Navy provided a warship for the event with the presence of the frigate, Tagomago. Salvamento showed visitors around their rescue ships, Salvamar Gienah and its tug, Sar Mastelero. The Guardia Civil opened its Customs launch,  Río Genil to the curious, as well.

There were also workshops and water attractions for kiddies, as well as virtual tours of the port viewed from a drone and a painting exhibition by .Francisco Izquierdo, entitled, Salvemos el Mediterráneo.
