In the latest Plenary Meeting of the Salobreña Town Council, besides approving the Canyon motion, it was agreed to demand more medical staff from the Junta.
They have asked the Delegación de Salud de la Junta de Andalucía to provide a second medical group before the coming San Juan fiestas (23rd/24th), which is when summer visitors begin to arrive to take up residence.
The Mayor, M.ª Eugenia Rufino, explained that this move has been made after it became known that the Junta had made no provisions for the Fiesta de San Juan.
She said that these ‘medical-staff reinforcements’ are very necessary given that the already over-stretched medical centre will have to strain further to accommodate the influx.
“For this reason and taking into account that San Juan takes place at the beginning of the summer season, it is absolutely necessary to be able to count on two medical teams, starting from the 20th of June,” she explained.
