You will have noticed that just outside 1616 Books in Salobreña they are making a small garden where people momentarily park.
We’re talking about Avenida García Lorca where there has long been a small, muddy patch where drivers would pull over to get out of the traffic flow along this narrow one-way street.
Parking’s certainly not easy there, owing to the proximity of the Municipal Market.
The Maintenance Department plans to plant flowers and a small tree there but in a raised arrangement. As said above, this space within the pavement was originally intended as a garden arrangement but being on the same level as the road, the irrigation water just puddled off onto the road and nothing managed to grow there… except for parked cars.
This problem will be solved by giving it a 12cm-high, granite surrounding – it will keep irrigation water in and drivers out, explained the Councillor for Parks & Gardens, Luis Cano.

No probs then. Just do the usual residents parking or abandoning your car in the street. Might be a bit tight for other cars, ambulances. Lorries or fire engines. But hey ho. They will just toot their horns. The parker will saunter out and with a shrug and ok,ok. Drive off and maybe park over the pedestrian crossing further on.
