Minasierra Road Surfacing

A very popular route for walkers and hikers in Motril is the Camino de Lomas de Minasierra, which is at the western end of the municipality.

The Minasierra lane runs from  La Ronda Poniente just under the La Fabria de Pilar right up to the first section of the Motril-Granada dual carriageway. However,  the tarmac is deteriorated in places and in need of repair, which is why the Mayor,Luisa García Chamorro, has given the go ahead for work to be carried out along its length.

This work is included within the general plan for improvement to rural lanes within the municipality, thanks to a commitment from the Junta de Andalucía, so it won’t fall all upon the municipal coffers.

According to the Councillor for Agriculture, Antonio Escámez, these old lanes had never been an asphalted one. He pointed out that the improvement work counts on  50,000 euros in funding for a 300-metre section of the lane. He said that the part of the lane that is not paved will receive a concrete surface rather than a tarmac one.
