Whilst pensioners can now use the municipal bus for free in Almuñécar & La Herradura, don't think that you'll get the same treatment when it comes to parking!
Iberpark has been awarded the contract to run the Blue Zones within the municipality, which will run for five years, starting next week.
The company will have to hand over 250,922 euros each year, and then make their money back through the parking meters, so don’t expect any mercy coming from that quarter.
Iberpark will control nearly 600 parking places in the two town centres and nearly 1,500 on the beachfront (paseo) parking areas.
Whilst the ones in the town centres are operative all year round, the paseo ones are operative during July & August and Semana Santa.
The company will take on the five workers employed by the previous lease holder, who will be joined by nine others, come the summer.
