Ski Season Ends

Well, the ski season on the Sierra Nevada came to a close on a perfect weekend; sun and brillante white were predominant on that final Sunday.

GRA Sierra Nevada DC21 05The last snowfall had been a parting gift, good quality, powdered snow between 10cm and 15cm thick, making the final day of the 2021-2022 skiing season a thoroughly enjoyable one for skiers, snowboards and kids on sledges.

According to the official data from the company that runs the ski station, Cetursa, there was a total of 1,144,391 visitors, 905,000 of whom were skiers and snowboarders.

The other 237,689 were visitors who went up to reach the snow and enjoy the attractions of Pradollano (the Mirlo Blanco complex) or the snow up in Borreguiles.

As for hotel occupation, the figure stands at 74% for the hotels within the ski-resort village of Pradollano bringing with it 45m euros in earnings, which is a historic figure for a season of 149 days.

There is no doubt that together with Alhambra and Costa Tropical, the Sierra Nevada is a tremendous asset for the province.

Finally, just because the ski season has finished, that doesn’t mean that you can’t go up there to enjoy the snow, wrapped up warm, armed with snowballs and mischief.
