Not a very pleasant start to the week in the city of Granada after a number-five bus was held up at pistol point.
Yes, the driver of a bus doing the Number-Five bus-route found himself examining the naughty end of a gun barrel around 07.00h. Also on board were two passengers.
Sensibly, the driver handed over the takings, which given the early hour amounted to about 20 euros in change.
The bandit also liberated a mobile phone and purse belonging to a female passenger, who was sat close to the front of the bus. There was another passenger on board, right down the back, but Billy The Kid left him alone perhaps because he didn’t want to get trapped on the bus should the driver close the doors.
All this happened at a stop on Calle Casería de Cerro in the badlands of Granada; i.e., the northern district. The thief was accompanied by two other men, who did not enter the bus.
Immediately after the thieves had fled the driver phoned into the Policía Nacional who sent out patrols to track them down, but without success.
And just in case you were thinking that this was quite enough for a Monday, shortly before the bus was held up, three individuals, one armed with a pistol, stole a car – the armed man put the gun to the driver’s head and demanded the car keys and told him to get out.
So, there you have it! visiting Granada; Alhambra Palace (Yes) Nevada Shopping Centre (Yes) Zona Norte (not recommended).
