Reader: Dangerous Bus-Stop

A reader writes in to bring attention to the questionable placing of the bus-stop at the entrance to La Herradura, on the main roundabout.

Readers Letter 400x250Dear Editor,

I would like to know how La Herradura came to have such a dangerous double bus and pedestrian ‘circus’ at the traffic lights just off the highway.

While waiting for buses I have seen walkers rush for safety as cars go around the circle out of town. And various near crashes as cars turn the circle into town. Let alone the build up, on a steep hill, at the traffic lights.

Whose idea was this traffic/car/bus/pedestrians /dogs and hitchhiker arrangement? What brilliant minds drew it out? And might La Herradura not be treated to something less dangerous and more fit for purpose on the town planning front?

Genuine questions by the way, not just narky.

Sincerely
Sue Davies
La Herradura

    I agree entirely!
It seems like there a so many pedestrian crossings, where they are not necessary, but that particular area is so dangerous.
If you want to cross from the town to the other side of the N340 (as a pedestrian), you take your life in your hands! Traffic thunders down towards the traffic lights and there is no safe place to cross the road as a pedestrian. Cars are not allowed to turn left when they leave the petrol station, so the majority turn right and turn around outside the little nursery (where customers park their cars and block that entrance).
