The Mayor of Salobreña was pleased to point out that half of the public buildings in town now have solar panels installed.
Not only that, but other municipal buildings also have solar-heating panels, thanks to a grant from the Agencia Andaluza de Energía.
For example, the municipal library, junior school, Cervantes in Lobres, the municipal gym within the municipal, football stadium, both the Casa de Cultura in La Caleta and Lobres have these installations whilst the Centro de Mayores in Lobres and La Caleta are about to receive theirs.
On the list to receive solar installations at a later date are the Mayor Zaragoza and Segalvina high schools, as well as the Town Hall itself and the sports pavilion.
The Mayor, M.ª Eugenia Rufino, says that these installations will help to reduce running costs; a welcome relief to the electricity bills that the town has to pay for all its public installations and street lighting.
All this has had a budget of almost one million euros, 80% which corresponds to a grant.
