New Jete Bridge

The Chairman of the Provincial Council, José Entrena, was in Jete getting himself a camera-flash suntan during the new bridge, photo op.

COS Jete New Bridge 400x250This new construction over Río Verde cost 400,000 euros, 244.270 euros of which came from the Provincial Council and the rest from the municipal coffers.

Sr Entrena was accompanied by the very popular Mayor of Jete, Plácido Jerónimo Fernández, as well as the manager of the building company Visogsa, Jesús Raya.

There’s also a few other people in the photo, but we have no idea who they are… and neither do they.

Let’s talk about the bridge! The bridge, which is 26.5 metres long and 7.4 metres wide, is “very necessary” for local farmers so that they can go from one side to the other in their Land Rovers and Nissan Patrols without ending up on one of Almuñécar’s beaches when the river actually gets a bit boisterous.

“Jete is a village with a future; it is strategically placed close to the coast and with very important agricultural activity,” said the Provincial Chairman.

The Mayor, not to be out done, thanked the Chairman for his visit and the Provincial Council for its support: “This struggle has been going on for years and Jete needed it [the bridge].”

Whilst gracing Jete with his munificent presence, the Chairman visited the nine government-subsidised dwellings that are going up in the Plaza de la Constitución. Visogsa is building the dwellings on municipal land ceded by the Town Hall.

The building has three floors and on each one there are three flats with three bedrooms, a living/dining room, kitchen, bathroom and toilet, each with a usable area of 75 sq/m.
