A person was run over by a train outside the Villarrubia station in Córdoba on Monday, according to the emergency 112 service.

The call centre received an alert around 11.20h from the driver of a Sevilla-bound train to say that he had run over somebody about 800 metres from the station itself.

The Guardia Civil were alerted and an ambulance despatched, as well as the local fire service.

However, once there they could only confirm that a hearse rather than an ambulance was needed.

Whilst this was going on, the line was closed and the passengers on the affected train were taken to the station in order to continue their journey.
