Covid Pass Use Dropped

The Minister of Health for the Junta de Andalucía, Jesús Aguirre, announced yesterday that Covid Certificates will drop out of use from Tuesday.

AND Covid Certificate FB22This means that this requirement to show your vaccination certificate either in paper form or to be read using a QR code upon going into your favourite restaurant & pubs, or even medical centres, will no longer be required.

This also goes for having to produce negative test results, of course.

“The extension to the Covid-Certificate law expires on the 15th and we are not going to ask for it to be extended again,” he said; a change that will affect the whole of Andalucía.

This is not necessarily the case in other regions of Spain. It continues to be of obligatory use to travel to certain countries, which depends on accords between Spain and the EU, for instance.

Sr. Aguirre explained that they have taken this decision because the pressure on hospitals has dropped with hospital occupation dropping by 600 in just one week.

“This shows that the Sixth Wave is in decline and we hope to enter a phase of stability within 10 to 15 days,” he added.

This also means that basic, medical attention for health needs other than Covid is returning to normal so that those who use the Salud Responde mobile app can get appointments to see their GP in under four days, which the Health Minister considers to be within the bounds of normality.

He concluded that owing to the great number of people in Andalucia who have contracted the Omicron variant (whether they were conscious of it or not) means that it has created a “natural immunity.”

So unless another variant comes along that dodges natural or acquired antibodies then we can get back to life before the appearance of Covid, he considers, whilst at the same time saying that the virus is here to stay.
