Almuñécar Town Hall has had workers from its Maintenance Department sprucing up the lorry park that runs opposite the N-340 between the Paloma and Río Verde.
There had been criticism from opposition parties about the ‘ropey’ state of the perimeter fence, which is precisely one of the parts of the parking area that has been receiving a loving lick of paint.
The Councillor for the Environment, Luis Aragón, said that this plan of action is because the plot of land is being used by lorries, heavy machinery and other vehicles without much order.
“With this new fencing, which includes a new entrance gate, we intend not only to put some order into how it is used, but also control access to it,” explained the Councillor.
The work has a budget of 25,000 euros and consists of building a base wall on which to mount the fencing, along its sides that borders Calle Khan Jounes and Calle Puerto de la Cruz. The new entrance gate will be eight metres in width, sufficient to allow large lorries to pass in and out of.
