It was around nine this morning when the driver of a car that plunged down a bank onto somebody's tile roof, was evacuated by helicopter to Granada.
The accident had taken place in La Rábita (Albuñol) at the eastern end of the Costa Tropical. The driver for reasons unknown had lost control of the vehicle on a bend and plummetted about three metres on the roof of a house.
Actually, the car ended up half on the roof and half on the lower part of the embankment, otherwise the car would probably have gone through the roof.
The Motril fire service was called out to the scene of the accident , as well as the Guardia Civil and the Policía Local.
It was no easy task for fire personnel to rescue the man because of the terrain and how the car had ended up, but rescue the man they did after about an hour.
Given the injuries received (several fractures) it was decided to transfer him by helicopter to the Hospital de Traumatología
As for the car, a large crane was needed to get it down and as for the house, several tiles were damaged.

Lets us hope a structural engineer will say that the house is safe. Both lucky and unlucky the car driver. Speed and bends. Always a issue inland.!
