Pozuelo Prefab Units Will Go

ALM Old Fire Station TaramayReaders will remember that the Almuñécar Fire Service had their offices there prior to being temporarily housed in the municipal stadium whilst the new fire station on the N-340 was completed.

The area where the prefabricated units are has since been chosen to house sports installations; hence the need to have them removed.

Consequently, the task of dismantling and removing the units has been put up to tender with a budget of 6,000 euros.

The Town Hall originally acquired these 28 prefabs from the construction company involved in building, the A-7. As soon as the autovía was completed the construction company ceded them to the Town Hall as it was cheaper than dismantling them and storing them elsewhere in case a new building contract came around. Perhaps it was even part of the deal struck with the Town Hall in exchange for the use of this publicly owned plot of land. Who knows?

Many of the prefabs are in ill repair or even gutted and the Town Hall only intends to hang on to two of them for municipal use.
