This weekend just past saw a seabed clean up in Salobreña together with investigation work carried out by divers.
This activity was part of the III Congreso de Jóvenes Investigadores del Mar, which was held at the beginning of September in Motril Port.
Organised by the Aula del Mar belonging to the Universidad de Granada (Ceimar), this environmental event was originally set for the 10th of September but sea conditions meant that it had to be postponed.
Obviously, there was a keen difference in the water temperature between that of September in late summer and now in mid autumn but even so, the Costa Tropical’s unique climate permits diving all year round.
The Club Universitario de Buceo sponsored this activity whilst the Club de Buceo Calahonda provided logistical support in the form of instructors and equipment. Obviously, it counted on the collaboration of the Town Hall, which opened up the castle for an end-of-operation event.
This Congreso de Jóvenes Investigadores is held every year but each time by a different university; this year it was Granada’s turn. Next year it will be the University of Almería’s turn. The very first one was organised by the University of Cádiz and the second one by the University of Málaga.
