Almuñécar Town Hall has been sorting out holes where trees are planted along the Avenida de Europa, which have caused pedestrians to trip over.
The work was carried out by students from the builder-workshop programme, Empléate, which is an employment initiative organised by the Town Hall. Cheap manhours for the municipal coffers, then.
“The elimination of the edges to the soil area around the trees, paving it with cobbles laid on sand (to allow watering) gives pedestrians more room, especially somebody pushing a pram or using a wheelchair,” explained the Councillor for trade-training and employment,” Beatriz González.
