The Health Committee has decided to put Costa Tropical and the Alpujarra on Health-Level Zero, bringing them into line with the rest of the province.
This means that apart from the use of masks and social distancing, we have finally returned to pre-pandemic conditions as far as restrictions go. It only took 19 months…
Our health district was held back by the contagion figures amongst those over 65 but this has now dropped.
The lifting of restrictions on bars and restaurants is tremendous news for this sector; no more seating limitations at tables and no more closing time limitations or maximum occupation on premises – excellent news for the nightlife entertainment sector and cinemas etc.
Yesterday the contagion figure for Spain was just above 50 per 100,000 inhabitants so unless another, more problematic, strain of our old friend, Covid-19 pops up, we should all be able to celebrate Christmas with families and friends.
However, although the Fifth Wave has passed us by, this doesn’t mean there won’t be more; the pandemic is not over – we can only hope for a long, long period of calmer seas.
Editorial comment: the inhabitants of Spain deserve a good clap on the back for how they handled the 3-month shut down, when leaving our homes was strictly regulated – without their cooperation with the Government’s anti-Covid plans during those dark days of March, April and May 2020, it would have been chaos – no government has the means of imposing such restrictions on a populace without their compliance.
There are those that think Covid-19 was part of an evil conspiracy by a global convent of paedophiles, bent upon world domination, headed by Bill Gates, extra-terrestrial lizard-men and communist China using perfidious 5G…There will also be an abundant readership of Marvel Comics.
Yet, if paedophiles really had such power, it would be legal, China was already en route to become the superpower without the appearance of Covid-19 and Bill Gates already has so much money that he couldn’t be arsed.
