La Herradura Biker Death

A 43-year-old biker came to grief in La Herradura last night, resulting in his death.

LHR The BayAccording to the 112 report, the accident occured around 23.20h, witnessed by several people who phoned in to alert the emergency services.

The emergency, call centre called out the Guardia Civil and the ambulance service (EPES), as well as the Policía Local. Despite the efforts of the paramedics, the victime died on the way to the hospital.

Update: it appears that it wasn’t a road accident but just one of those twists of fate that changes your life… or ends it.

There is a bike-meet at Hotel Alcazaba near the entrance to the Marina del Este area. This man, (somewhere between 43 and 47) had parked his bike in not the best of places and had decided to move it. Somehow, whilst manoeuvering it, he hit the throttle more than he intended and the bike took off, dragging him along with it.

As he wasn’t actually riding the bike, he wasn’t wearing his helmet – he just intended to move it a matter of metres. As fate would have it, during the short distance he was dragged along the ground by the bike, he hit his head causing a severe injury.

The rest you already know. A big thanks to Juan Manuel de Haro, as always, for his help obtaining this information.
