Salobreña Botellón Bust

Police forces in Salobreña were called in to break up a botellón (open-air bottle party) in the early hours of Saturday on the TH1.

SAL TH1The Policía Local and the Guardia Civil had their work cut out for them breaking up this illegal gathering consisting of some 300 revellers.

It was aroud 03.30h, shortly after the night-life businesses had closed, that the police received a complaint from sleep-deprived locals to say that loud music was pumping out of the area of the vega where the expected hotels will one day stand – at the moment its a provisional car park.

At first, the police thought that it was a beach bar providing the decibels but upon arrival they realised that kids and not-so-kids were gathered on the paseo that goes virtually as far as La Guardia from the Peñon, just behind the beach.

The Local Police officers, all three of them, decided that they needed some Green-Meanie back up and called the Guardia Civil for growling reinforcements… and we don’t mean police dogs.

But it was an eventful night because 112 alerted the municipal police to the existence of a brawl involving 15 people somewhere in town. There was also a small fire amongst the rushes near the Guadalfeo, as well as a smaller botellón with a pawltry 30 participants, probably because everybody was bopping at the other one.

Editorial comment: the revellers went home with no further incident – the Guardia Civil should have hung them upside down and beaten the soles of their feet, of course. However, this hearty passtime is no longer taught in the police academies since Franco curled up his toes, bless their cotton socks.
