Thieves Target Lifeguard Post

Never has there been a more justified use of the rhetorical question, "is nothing sacred?" in the long history of the Seaside Gazette than over this break in.

ECO Lifeguard Hut Raided AG21The lifeguard service on the Carchuna-Calahonda beaches reported a burglary carried out in their installations on Playa de la Perla to the Policía Nacional after finding the hut raided and items stolen.

The local lifeguard coordinator, David Orihuela, found the door to the hut forced open yesterday morning and material valued at 2,000 euros half-inched.

The items stolen were a defibrillator, binoculars, medical material, flags, flippers and engine oil for the launch.

It’s not the first time that lifeguard huts have been broken into, as was the case on Playa del Faro, when a collection of spot-squeezing, youths targeted it looking for stuff for their botellón.
