We all missed the Motril Air Show, which was cancelled because of the pandemic, but this year it is definitely on!

This month, on the 20th, the sky over Playa de Poniente will be full of airplanes and helicopters, thanks to the Festival Aéreo Internacional de Motril.

A total of 15 aircraft will participate, including a sod-off Rafale belonging to the French Armée de l’Air.

The Chairman of the Asociación Aeronáutica Andaluza ORIÓN, José Miguel Pérez Juárez, explained that the ‘control tower’ will based by the Chiringuito El Espeto this year.

It costs 25,000 to put together this air display, footed by the Junta, the Mancomunidad, the Port Authorities and the Town Hall. Local businesses have also made donations as well as volunteers offering their spare time, too.

But we still find ourselves in the midst of a pandemic, so restrictions and precautions will be in place.

Finally, there will also be a marquee where an exhibition will be on show because it is the 50th anniversary of the arrival of the EVA nº 9 (Spanish Air Force squadron) in Motril.
