Almuñécar begins its third, mass-vaccination session at the municipal stadium this afternoon and throught tomorrow.

“We shall finish vaccinating the over 70s remaining in the Río Verde area and continue with those aged 69 and below,” explained a source at the Centro de Salud in Almuñécar.

On Wednesday and Thursday last week they called in residents aged 63 and 64 and some even some lower down in the 60s group for their first AstraZeneca jabs.

The Rió Verde health area includes Almuñécar and La Herradura, together with those from Jete, Otívar and Lentegí. These three valley villages add around another 2,000 people to the residents of the municipality of Almuñécar as far as health coverage goes.

From Tuesday during the morning and afternoon session the second Pfizer vaccination will be administered to those that had their first injection three weeks ago.

Almuñécar Medical Centre reminds those of 70 and over who have not yet received their first jab to go round to them and check their name is on the register and enter it if not.

Lastly, the Almuñécar Protección Civil continues to provide transport for those with mobility problems which prevents them from attending both the stadium for a jab or to the medical centre to make sure they are on the vaccination register.
