It’s about as ‘wintery’ as it gets on the Costa Tropical, i.e., single-figure temperatures at night, wind & rain. It’s Inland Granada that’s getting a real winter, though.
The Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AEMET) has issued an alert, warning of freezing temperatures, snow and rain in north-east Granada (Guadix & Baza). During the course of the day, 10cm of snow is forecast with a snow line between 800 and 1,000 metres.
Here on the coast it will start raining around noon today and fizzle out Friday evening with the sun making a soggy appearance on Saturday.
With the low temperatures we might even get snowfall on Thursday morning on the Sierra de Lújar above Motril and the Almijarras behind Otívar. Who knows. The Sierra Nevada will have a heavy mantle of snow, that’s for sure.
As for the wet bit on the other side of the beach there will be waves between three and four metres and gusting winds.
All this has been brought to us by a friendly cold front moving in from the Atlantic dragging plenty of H2O with it.
