At last, the Salobreña, old-town street of Calle Fábrica Nueva between Calle Nueva and Calle Rosario, has been reopened to traffic.
This last piece of the old-town jigsaw puzzle of underground pipe laying completed the badly needed overhaul carried out by the Mancomunidad, costing a total of 1.8m euros.
Calle Rosario was temporarily reopened for summer traffic after several months of being closed for road works, but with the arrival of September; the 30th to be precise, work recommenced.
The work carried out was not only about laying subterrenean infrastructure but also widening the pavement in places, as well as creating more parking spaces.
However, although the Mancomunidad work in the old town has been completed, the Town Hall wants to carry out some of its own maintenance work on Calle Guadix, just as soon the Christmas holidays have finished.
