Debate over Xmas Measures

SPN Minister of Health IllyaThe Minister of Public Health for the Central Government held a video conference with his regional counterparts to decide common measures for Xmas.

The idea is slacking them off over Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and if all goes well, the maximum number of people that you can have round, yourselves included will be ten. This time we know that children must be calculated, as well.

The PP PM of Galicía would like children under 10 not to be counted but…

The Junta representative, Jesús Aguirre, pointed out that the important thing is that there is unity amongst all the different regions and the Central Government. He also said, however, that there will be differences between regions as conditions in each one differ as far as contagion goes. He emphasised this by pointing out that even within Andalucía there are differences between provinces.

The draft document (about which the debate will centre for its approval) puts the night curfew to start at 01.30h on Chistmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and confinement to be on a regional level and not a municipal one.

All this is being discussed this afternoon/evening but even holding our 16.00h until now, two hours later, there has stil not been an announcement, although the conditions agreed will not differ much from those above.

Update: At last the meeting has finished and it has been confirmed that ten people is the max for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve at home (children included) and that the curfew is postponed until 01.30h ending at 07.00h the next morning. It appears that the group of ten should be made up of two family units, so we’re talking about relatives).

Between the 23rd of December and the 6th of January movement will be restricted to regions; i.e., in our case, Andalucía. This does not mean that the present municipal restriction has been lifted and merely concerns the Christmas period. We will know this Sunday whether the municipal movement restrictions are lifted.
