The Mayor of Motril, Luisa García Chamorro, has said that the Town Hall will tighten control on people sneaking down from Granada.
The fact that restaurants and bars are open down here on the coast, she feels, might be an irresistible attraction for the Granadinos whose own such establishments remain closed.
Consequently, the Policía Local will not only be checking that businesses are obeying the 18.00h closing, pedestrians are wearing masks and nobody from along the coast is sneaking it to boost Al Campo’s takings… they will also look out for northerners on a mission.
“I have spoken with the Police Chief and the Councillor for Citizen Safety, Mara Escámez, about tightening controls. We’re not going to let the sacrifices of many go down the drain owing to the irresponsibility of some,” said the Mayor.
Editorial comment: the photo is of a British woman caught trying to sneak into Al Campo to buy Earl Grey tea… just joking! The photo is actually from a couple of years ago during a riot in northern Spain.
