The Salobreña branch of the far-right political party, Vox, wants the beach road returned to normal use with parking space on both sides again.
Party Spokesman, Manuel Martín Montero, considers that with all the restrictions that the hostelry sector is facing, it deserves all the help it can get; i.e, let people park in front of the chiringuitos again instead of looking for space on the opposite side of the road.
“With the end of summer, the number of pedestrians on our streets has dropped off noticeably, especially along the seafront,” he pointed out, concluding, “therefore the [extra] space for pedestrians can be reduced without jeopardising social distancing.”
Editorial comment: when we interviewed the Mayor we asked, as the summer was over, when they were going to remove the bollards and she responded that they were not contemplating such a change.
