A 44-year-old bike rider lost his life in Ítrabo after a collision with a car on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident happened on the GR-5300 around 16.00h on the 27th, according the emergency-service number 112, belonging to the Junta de Andalucia.

The GR-5300 is the road that connects Jete to Ítrabo and Molvízar before connecting up with the Motril-Granada road (N-332).

The exact point was near kilometre point seven, which is at the end of a straight stretch of road where many vehicles take the opportunity to overtake before taking the sharp bend at the bottom.

A motorist had called in to say that there was an injured man lying on the ground after the collision. An ambulance was dispatched together with a Guardia Civil unit specialised in road accidents. The paramedics could do nothing for the victim.
