The First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya has submitted a request the Junta to have the Segovia competition made a Declaración de Interés Turístico.

The said councillor was joined by his counterpart for Turismo y Playas, Daniel Barbero, as the request had to go from the municipal tourist board to the provincial, tourist-board offices belonging to the Junta.

This idea was approved unanimously in a Plenary Meeting of the Town Council in June but since then the Almuñécar tourist board has been working on composing the formal request… nobody can accuse bureaucrats of unseemly haste.

To be fair, there was a lot of paperwork because it had be filed under Declaración de Acontecimiento (declaration of occurrence) and within that as ‘classical music’ stating how long it goes back, international projection and tourism projection – anybody filling out an official request form at any town hall knows that it is a nightmare needless gobbledygook.

Anyway if this request is accepted to have the Certamen de Guitarra Clásica Andrés Segovia de La Herradura classified as a DIT, it will join the municipality’s one for Semana Santa and the Fiestas Patronales de Almuñécar.
