Salobreña Burglary Solved

SAL Molvizar Guardia ArrestThe Guardia Civil have managed to arrested a man from Molvízar, suspected of carrying out a theft over a period of time from a house in Salobreña.

According to the police, the 36-year-old man (who has a criminal record) targeted the property of a foreign homeowner, whom he knew to be out of the country, as he only uses this second home during holiday periods.

The break-ins took place between the 26th and 29th of May (when the Lockdown was still in force). With the owner far away, the accused allegedly took his time and removed a washing machine, a fridge, a sofa and a dining-room table, with a total value of over 4,000 euros.

When the owner returned and discovered what had happened, he reported it straight to the Guardia Civil, who opened an investigation. Searching the house for prints they came across several partial ones, which were submitted to the Laboratorio de Criminalística belonging to the Guardia Civil HQ in Granada. A match was made from the 12 fingerprints and those belonging to the accused.

The investigation continues to find out what happened to the stolen items and whether the suspect had accomplices – you can’t move household goods of that size by yourself, after all.
