The pit where the Almuñécar municipal market was will continue as a car park run by the church charity, Cáritas, as had been the case during the summer.
This arrangement, providing 24-hour parking, is likely to continue for a few months… or longer, because it depends on the Town Hall getting everything ready for construction work to commence
The parish priest, Father Vicente Guerrero, has expressed his gratitude or the use of the plot, as it was very helpful for the charity funds during the summer. In fact, Cáritas will be able to mount several aid campaigns with the money produced by the parking arrangement.
The pit has adequate lighting and a booth in place for the person manning the entrance, all provided by the Town Hall.
Editorial comment: who would have thought that the parking under the municipal market would have to have the building scraped off the top of it to once more be back in action!
