A Belgian man on the run after being found guilty of sexually abusing two adolescent girls was tracked down to Vélez-Málaga, where he was arrested.
The man had been living in his car in an attempt to avoid discovery but to no avail after the Policía Nacional received information concerning his whereabouts from the Belgian authorities.
The police staked out the places in the said coastal town where he usually frequented, especially near a gasolinera, a restaurant and his partner’s home. Within 24 hours of this operation being in place he was arrested.
The assaults resulting in a conviction occurred between the 15th of May, 2007 and the 20th of January 2009 when the wanted man sexually assaulted an 11 and a 12-year-old girl in the towns of Oud-Turnhout y Arendonk. According to the Belgian authorities, the man had also carried out three sexual assaults against women between 2000 and 2003 in the town of Ravels.
In 2019, the man was permitted to leave jail to undergo therapy for sexual disorders in a psychiatric institution where he had to stay for the duration of the treatment. However, on the 30th of July that same year he managed to escape from the said institution, the General Psychiatric Hospital St. Lucia in Ankerstraat. He had been on the run since then.

Yes, I appreciate that, which is why I changed the title earlier. Thanks for the heads up, anyway. 😉
Just a technical point. Why is the man described as a pederast? This is term that describes a homosexual relationship between a man and young boy as was practised in the Spartan army. Your article says the man only abused young girls and women. As some of these girls were prepubescent he is a paedophile. Good job he was caught and let’s hope he is locked up for a long time.
