A person suspected of carrying out several car break-ins on beachgoers’ cars parked on the N-340 has been arrested.
The beach in Torrox in an area known as El Peñoncillo is very popular with beachgoers but leaving a car unattended on the road has been a nerve-wracking experience, never knowing whether it had been broken into during its owner’s absence.
The suspect, who has a criminal record comprising of 20 convictions, is thought to have worked in conjuction with two accomplices, both of whom are still at large for the moment, although the police are confident that these other suspects will be in custody within the next few days.
The arrested man was caught red handed, loitering along this stretch of road (see photo) where beach users leave their cars parked. The Guardia Civil and Policía Local had both been keeping an eye on the area.
